SE-GA helps employers turn their workers’ compensation program around with multiple cost control strategies!

CAD-7 Employer cables their way to workers’ comp success!

An Ontario cable installer was incurring an average of eight lost time claims annually and paying surcharges in excess of $200k under their CAD-7 program and had difficulty accommodating their injured workers. They only saw the ability to complete a portion of their regular duties as modified work. As the employer did not fully understand the heavy financial burden of their CAD-7 and WSIB obligations their claims costs spiraled out of control. Further this created a climate where the injured expected to be at home to recover from their workplace injuries, thus hindering the profit margin of the organization.

SE-GA along with the senior management team was able to implement a best in class claims management system which revamped the return to work culture by developing alternative strategies that allowed the employer to offer their associates transitional work while still providing a benefit to the organization.

Additionally all of the runaway claims where strategically reviewed to maximize their CAD-7 refund potential. Overall with a partnership approach, the cable installer has developed a return to work protocol that anticipates their most common incidents and can quickly bring their people back to work and most of all, their experience rating position has dramatically shifted to a refund for the coming years.

This employer went from having one of the largest surcharges in the province in recent years to a complete turn around so that they are now receiving annual rebates and are back to focusing on profitability!

Hospital reaps the benefits of providing more than a band aid solution to their WSIB program!

A large Ontario hospital was having recurring significant surcharges for a number of years under their NEER program. Through a partnership approach SE-GA was able to increase the SIEF levels thru the Appeals process but also provide hands on training to the senior team regarding the finite details of NEER and the financial/legal drivers of how the WSIB system works. As such the hospitals revamped their current protocols/systems and are now in a position where they forecasting their NEER position to shift to recurring refunds in just a short period of time!
